Thoughts: I Call Myself dd...

Yes my name is Lisa, but I also call myself dd. These days I call myself dd when I’m like, “You got this dd” when I’m trying to figure something out or “What are you doing dd”, kind of yelling at myself when I do something stupid. But you see, I didn’t name myself this alter ego, it was lovingly given to me! It all started when my best friend Tami and her husband Trevor had their first child, Noela. We call her Noe for short. When she was a baby we were trying to get her to say my name and figured Lee Lee would be easier, which is what some people called me sometimes...kids in the family mostly. Well apparently Noe couldn’t say her L’s and Lee Lee came out as Dee Dee and I’ve been Dee Dee ever since! Well, I’ve shortened it to dd! Noe still calls me dd (she’s 21 now - what?!) and even Tami’s 18 year old son Zac still calls me dd. I love it! Now a little later, Grayson came along (he’s 12 now) and he had always known me as dd and nothing else. But of course, every once in a while, my real name, Lisa, came out of Tami and Trevor’s mouths and he must’ve started hearing it from time to time and wondering...So, I will never forget when I went to my best friend Tami‘s house and her son Grayson, who was probably around five or six at the time, just looked at me with this - you deceived me look - and, dun, dun, dun….said, “Hellllooo…..…LISA…..”. Like we had been lying to him all his life and he’d just solved a major mystery! LOL!! I wish I could insert a voice memo here so you could hear how he said it!! I was like, oh crap! But also laughing hysterically inside! So, I just felt like sharing something special to me that makes my heart happy. I’m dd!
